National Express East Anglia and the Department for Transport, have recently improved access for customers at several stations in Essex.
New height adjustable counters, which are DDA compliant, have recently been installed at Chelmsford, Harlow Town, Ilford and Romford stations. The new modular style fittings comprise of a window with a counter which can be adjusted for customers using wheelchairs or mobility vehicles, helping to make purchasing tickets or making enquiries more convenient.
New automatic doors have also recently been fitted at Gidea Park, Harlow Town, Romford and Chelmsford stations. In addition, tactile paving has been installed at Chelmsford, Gidea Park, Goodmayes, Harlow Town, Seven Kings and Romford stations, whilst new handrails have been fitted at Gidea Park station. Finally, anti-slip stair coverings have recently been fitted at Billericay, Chelmsford, Seven Kings and Shenfield stations. Together, these improvements have contributed to making travel simpler for customers travelling to and from National Express East Anglia’s stations in Essex.
The accessibility improvements have been jointly funded by National Express East Anglia and the Department for Transport’s Access for All Small Schemes fund.
