Kings Ferry crowned at major industry awards
25 Apr 2012

Kent transport company The King's Ferry has been named Britain's top coach company at a major industry award.

The Gillingham based coach operator, who employ over 150 people locally, has won the coach industry's highest honour, scooping the award for UK Coach Operator of the Year and Top Large Fleet Operator at the UK Coach Awards in Manchester on 19th April 2012.

The Kings Ferry was praised for its innovative use of technology to improve travel and its record of consistently delivering excellent customer service. When making their decision the judges considered feedback from customers, performance data and customer friendliness as tested by a 'mystery shopper', and were particularly impressed with The Kings Ferry's quality, marketing and image.

Commercial Director, Danny Elford, accepted the awards on behalf of The Kings Ferry: "We have won many awards over the years, but to be named UK Coach Operator of the Year is truly a great honour and one which everyone at The Kings Ferry can take great pride in. We are immensely proud of our staff who have all worked hard to deliver consistently high standards. The fact that these awards are nominated and voted on by our customers makes it all the more special."

Kings Ferry is the largest commuter service for coach travel to London, operating 34 services from Kent into Canary Wharf and London each morning. There are 183 pick-up points across 34 services in Medway and Swale including Park and Ride stops. Over the last 18 months they have invested over eight million in new vehicles - with a further investment of three million planned for this year.

More than 200 representatives from the coach and coach tourism industry were present at the UK Coach Awards held at the Ramada Piccadilly Hotel. More than 60 individuals, companies and organisations were honoured for excellence in customer service and innovation. TV presenter, Carol Kirkwood, hosted the evening and Tom Jenkins, Executive Director of the European Tour Operators Association, presented the awards to the delighted winners.

The UK Coach Awards exist to promote, reward and inspire quality and success in the coach industry. For more information visit: or
